Supporting local organisations has never been more important and as a team we love to give something back to the community – which is why we have decided to sponsor a Teesside basketball team for the third year running.
We are the proud sponsors of the Teesside Lions’ warm-up tops for the 2021/22 season and have enjoyed seeing how the team have supported eager basketball fans of all ages throughout the pandemic by providing online classes.
Following the easing of restrictions, the team, which is owned by James Thomson and was established in 2007 as the Middlesbrough Lions, are now able to host classes, tournaments and training for all ages once again.
During the lockdown, the team released ‘The Rise of the Lions’ documentary, a four-part series about the club, created by local teenager Charlie McKenna.
Kevin Embleton, managing director of Concept IT, said: “It’s been a difficult period for everyone, and we know how vital exercise and being part of a support system is, especially for young people.
“We were over the moon to have the opportunity to sponsor the Teesside Lions for the third year as we love watching their spirit both on and off the court.
“Thanks to the team’s hard work, they have truly put Teesside on the map. Being active and part of a team really helps to boost your mental health and wellbeing - the Lions play an incredibly important role in the lives of so many young people across the area and we’re thrilled to support their great work and achievements.”
James added: "We are thrilled that Kevin and the team at Concept have been so supportive, not just with the financial contribution, but also with the IT support they provide the club.
“It is particularly pleasing that Concept IT has seen value in extending the partnership, and we look forward to strengthening the ways in which we can be of mutual benefit, some of which will be great rewards and prizes for Concept staff and clients.
“Despite the challenges we have faced during Covid, it is great to be back and preparing for the new season. With the addition of Great Britain Coach Marc Steutel, along with an exciting team of players, we are hoping to enjoy a good season while also representing the commercial partners who have chosen to support us in a positive way."
